Perfect Drink for the Year of the Pig

Beginning on February 5, 2019, and ending on January 24, 2020, is the Year of the Pig in the Chinese tradition. While in the West it’s customary to ring in the New Year with champagne, the Year of the Pig offers the opportunity to check out some unique variations on American libations. For example, before the Pig gets too long in the tooth, why not sample a Sake Martini.

INGREDIENT

  • .5 oz. Sake
  • 3 oz. Rice Aroma Baijiu (a light body spirit produced in China that is similar in taste to vodka, with notes of flowers and honey)
  • edible flowers (such as rose petals or violet blossoms - make sure they are unsprayed)

DIRECTIONS

  • Combine Sake and Baijiu in a chilled shaker and shake or stir.
  • Pour into chilled Martini glass.
  • Garnish with flower petals.
